Artist Elyse Arnold's "Celestials" On Display at Caviel's Museum and Art Gallery
Amazing, cosmic pieces that speak of "powers and principalities"
The Caviel Museum and Art Gallery always features a laid back atmosphere and edifying galleries for First Friday Art Trail. Their offering on 6 March 2026 was particularly powerful.

Curators Fernando Perez and Anthony Mora put together a wonderful exhibit featuring the work of Elyse Arnold.
Arnold told us that she’s “been doing a live painting series for the last couple of years, and decided to make the planets humanoids. Because we draw a lot of power from them”. She wanted to “personify the planets to make them more relatable.”
Arnold said she “started with mercury, and did them two at a time. So each pair were painted one night at a time on Mondays throughout the last year.”
One of the attendees, Kim Jenkins, hit the nail on the head when she boiled it down for us: “They remind me of superheroes.” Which of course is what we have turned the ancient gods into., and before that they were often just planets personified.
We also got a superhero vibe from some of the pieces, but there was much to them that just pop sentimentality.
