This past Wednesday, 7 October was a special day for the Roots Historical Arts Committee. Flat City Songstress Hayley Burton and her Jazz Quintet joined us for a sophisti-scrappy, enjoyable little event: the inaugural Caviel’s Soundstage.
The house was packed—in a comfortable home town kind of way. Hayley and Crew really put on a full-spectrum demonstration of making music from the soul. They opened up with an quiet, a’cappella piece and took us on a journey through standards, and more, scatting, and plucking a variety of pieces that really kept the crowd animated and grooving.

Brittany and Devin’s Angels provided nachos and street tacos. As usual, The Roots Crew offered hors d'oeuvres and two beverages with the price of the ticket.
Tickets are on sale now for next month’s show. On November 11th, 2026, we’ll Jazz Alley, the de facto house band at Jazz: A Louisiana Kitchen.
