Thought for the Week:
This is so true. I have a ton of books, many of which I have read, many of which I haven’t. I used to feel a bit guilty about my “pile of books”. But this little meme makes me feel better about it. I just bought the Paul Laurence Dunbar: The Life and Times of a Caged Bird. I haven’t read it yet, but I’ve already learned something just from the title.
What’s Going On?
Man, I sure hope to see some of you guys at this event. Click on the pic to register. It takes place at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center on Thursday, May 9th, 2024 at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Tons of good stuff going on for Juneteenth:
Out and About
Ms. Shirley Green and the Crew from Caviel’s Museum of African American History stepped outside their collective comfort zone and put on a nice little First Friday Art Trail show called “The Pialli Art Exibit”.
They displayed pieces by several local Latino and Indigenous artists, and featured live music from Mojave Sol.
Stay tuned. Our midweek piece will be a recap article with all the sights and sounds from this event.
What You Bumpin?
This weeks song of the week is from the criminally unsung group Society of Soul. I was bumping this back in ‘94-’96. It’s an exquisite album you can just put on and let play. Every song is on theme and jamming in it’s own way.
