Triple Threat Jazz Concert, Delicious Meal, Drinks and Vendors Equal an Exquisite Evening in the LBK
This past Saturday, 12 May 2025, the Roots Historical Arts Council put on the 10th Anniversary Caprock Jazz Festival. The Gala event featured excellent cuisine, drinks, vendors and a three-course concert.
We spoke with Mr. Greg Ricks, who along with the Strong and McDonald family, helped conceive and establish the Caprock Jazz Festival.

Bass Lady Joy Harris and some stellar musicians from Marco’s Crew provided a funky, jazzy soundscape during arrival and the mix-and-mingle portions of the Festival.




There were top-notch vendors on hand as well as a sea of friends and fellow Lubbockites to chop it up with. The meal and drinks were really good, as well.







Lubbock native saxophonist Tom Braxton gave a historical overview of this elegant musical tradition just before the musical portion of the event began.
