What’s Going On?
Hey LBK! There are a ton of good things going on in the near future that promise to be a worth while good time. For the example, SWAT Global Outreach Ministries will hold the Men On Fire Outpour event on January 26th and 27th.
Also, the Returning Citizen’s Association and the East Lubbock Community Alliance will be hosting a seminar all about building Resilience and Mental Fortitude.
The Lubbock Roots Historical Arts Council will present a Community Kwanzaa Celebration on Saturday February 3, 2024. There will be holiday-themed activities including live dancing, singing, and spoken word performances, in addition to the traditional candle-lighting ceremony. Come celebrate the Nguzo Saba (Seven Principals) with your friends and neighbors, LBK!
You’ve also got the “Stronger Together” 2024 Black Business Expo taking place from 12p-4p on February 3rd at Mae Simmons. We had a great time at last year’s Event, and can’t wait to get out and see all of our local entrepreneurs and business owners. Check these pages for the recap article sometime after the expo.
Out and About
Did you see this cartoon in the paper? This “pointed” political cartoon, run recently in the Avalanche Journal, apparently caused concern in some parts of the community. In fact, some citizens wrote in and had the AJ remove the cartoon.
Do you get the message behind this image? Are you greatly offended, or do you not even care? Rob and Kham go deep chopping it up about DEI, CRT, Racism, the Klan, etcetera! Take a listen, and tell us what you think down below in the comment section.
