This past weekend, Lovely Wife and I celebrated our 24th Anniversary. In keeping with our pattern over the last 3 years, we rented an Airbnb near a location within 5 or 6 hours of Lubbock, and made a road trip to our destination. Last year, we celebrated in Waco (It was a dope little city). This year, we chose Oklahoma City, mainly because it fit the distance criteria and neither of us had ever been to Oklahoma.

The drive was very quiet and different from what we usually experience going down to H-Town or Austin. For example, at about the midway point of the trip, we stopped in Lawton, Oklahoma for about an hour to check out the Museum of the Great Plains.

It’s a really well-done museum with artifacts from the first people to the current ones on display. Everything was quite interesting, and the tornado theater was an expertly crafted, immersive experience. We casually perused the exhibits and enjoyed the break from the road. This was a first for us as we do not typically stop for more than gas and restroom breaks when we travel.

The Airbnb we got this time was a nice little A-Frame Cabin out in rural Noble, Ok. It was perfect, actually. Small enough to be cozy, big enough to be comfortable, and quiet enough to actually rest and recuperate.

It was very secluded (in a totally good way). There was a Dollar General and a gas station about 3 miles down the main road, but other than that, this little gem was completely tucked into the trees down a one-and-a-half mile red dirt road.
