You may have already heard, but if you haven’t, prepare yourself. Mrs. Billie Caviel has passed away. Sadly, although we spoke to her a few times while we were Out and About, we never got a chance to speak in-depth with her.

We missed the chance to bond with a woman, who as I understand it, co-owned and operated, with her husband Alfred, the first African-American husband-and-wife pharmacy in the United States. We missed the chance to get to know better a remarkable woman who shared with and cared for the people of Lubbock in deep and lasting way.
In the wake of her passing, we recommit to our mission of preserving the Words of the Elders.
Please help us Preserve the Words of Our Elders. Call 806-642-0949 to arrange an Oral History record session with an elder you know. Completely free!
